THE ISTHMUS OF PENTHEVRE, A LAND OF CONTRASTS
The Penthièvre isthmus links the mainland to the peninsula, offering breathtaking views between the bay, the ocean, and Fort Penthièvre. This narrow strip of land, just 22 metres wide in places, presents striking contrasts between the calm beaches and the dramatic cliffs on the horizon. Wherever you look, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the sea.
THE SAUVAGE COASTLINE, INVIGORATING BY NATURE
Constantly battered by the wind and the sea, the wild Sauvage coastline is an invigorating sight! As you journey along the beaches, you can feel the beat of the ocean. Highlights : Pointe du Percho and its Port-Blanc arch, Port Bara, Port Rhu, Château Turpault and its unique panorama of Belle-Île-en-Mer.
PLOUHARNEL, A HAVEN FOR SURFERS
At the entrance to the peninsula, Plouharnel is a must for surf enthusiasts... but not just for them! From the paths, take in the sight of surfers, migratory birds, and vast sandy beaches protected by miles of dunes. A little further on, the old village is a hidden gem, with its stone houses, narrow alleys, and the Notre-Dame-Des-Fleurs chapel.
A LITTLE FURTHER... MYSTERIOUS CARNAC
Facing the peninsula, the famous seaside resort of Carnac is steeped in mystery... Away from its sandy beaches, more than 3,000 menhirs stand in alignment over four kilometres. These 7,000-year-old megaliths form the largest site of standing stones in the world. It is one of France's most exceptional prehistoric sites, just waiting to be explored.
